Does anyone happen to know what they ask on a polygraph test for a position with the city Police Dept. for a?

Posted by admin on December 29th, 2009 and filed under city dept | 2 Comments »

Admin. Asst. job? All clerical.
Do they ask if you’ve ever smoked marijuana in your life? I’m a 40 year old woman, would you be discounted right there?

Questions depend on the city. And no you would not be automatically disqualified for smoking pot before, just don’t lie about it – that is an automatic fail. Police officers have done drugs before, and are constantly hired. The key is DO NOT LIE! Some departments have requirements as to how long it has been since you have partaken illegal drug use and what not. Try looking at your citys website for requirements. You can be in the FBI and have experimented with many different drugs – as long as you have done them less than a certain number of times and it has been longer than the time period they allow.

Which city department do I contact to find out who owns a property or parcel of land?

Posted by admin on December 24th, 2009 and filed under department city | 4 Comments »

There is a parcel of land that I would like to attempt to purchase, but I do not know the owner of the land. I know that the name of the owner to the land is recorded in some city department, but I am unsure of which one. Can anyone please help me? The city is Bloomington, IN.

If you have the address of the property you can usually go on line to your local property taxing agency enter the address & the name of the owner should pop up along with the property description. www.wevaluebloomington.org this is the website you should check into.

Do you agree with Judge Sonia Sotomayor?

Posted by admin on December 21st, 2009 and filed under city fire dept | 6 Comments »

One controversial ruling she made was regarding a lawsuit brought by white firefighters in New Haven, Connecticut. All the New Haven firefighters took a test that was going to weigh heavily for promotions. The problem was that all the top scores on the test were from white firefighters and the black firefighters didn’t do too well. After they saw the results, the New Haven fire dept. decided not to use the test scores in decided promotions. The white firefighters sued the city of New Haven, claiming racial discrimination. The city of New Haven said they could have been sued by the black firefighters claiming that the test was racially biased, similar to how some blacks claim the SAT test is biased against black people, which is why they do so poorly on it compared to other races. Judge Sotomayor sided with the city of New Haven, against the white firefighters.

Do you think Sotomayor was right in this case? Should we use tests as a form of promotion, even if the people that score the highest are all white? Is that fair to minorities?

Karel, where did you get the idea that I think blacks do everything poorly? That wasn’t anywhere at all in my question.

No she is wrong and a closet racist. Those white firefighters bust their @sses to pass that test and if the blacks were to lazy or dumb to pass then too bad.It just goes to show you that blacks need their hands held through life. This is also how she has got to were she is in life…quotas

Joining up for Volunteer Fire Department?

Posted by admin on December 18th, 2009 and filed under city planning department | 5 Comments »

My plan is to join up for the Volunteer Fire department while going to college (Community college), and my plan is to eventually get into a possible EMS unit, then transfer when i’m 21 or so to become a police officer. My ultimate goal is to become a State Trooper, or even part of a swat unit in the major city nearby. Any feedback on my plan?
I’m trying to figure out the way I want to go in life, thats why i’m still going to college. I figured going into VFD, EMS, then the law enforcement would provide more then enough ways of how to help my community.

The Fire department is a fantastic idea
.
EMS is a for sure need of today’s departments nation wide
.
State Troopers is in a different ball park
.
Most troopers have military background with emphasis on security while in the service
.
And even then they all have worked their way up threw the local police departments in rank and out stating notations on their records
.
For they are a step below the FBI

Where do the possums that hang out in the city parks, hide during the day ?

Posted by admin on December 16th, 2009 and filed under where is city | 2 Comments »

They are in the trees at night in parks and have a routine of picking at seeds and grass but have you seen a possums sleeping any where during the day around the city ? I mean where do they go?

I know! In my neighbourhood, we have foxes that come out at night and it’s really creepy cause they scream and it sounds like a hysterical woman being raped our something.

But you never see them during the day.

Why is there a "Welcome to Obamaville" sign near a homeless tent city near Colorado Springs?

Is the Hope and Change we asked for?

Because instead of helping Americans like he promised Obama has handed over half of the national treasury to the Banks. He has also most recently gotten on his knees to give the insurance companies a blowjob.

European City Breaks in Winter?

Posted by admin on December 16th, 2009 and filed under city breaks | 2 Comments »

Hey, I’m planning a girls holiday during the half term of February, (as this is the only time we can get away) and I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations? Its a chance for just us girls to get away for a few days and as its winter we realise the weather is not going to be on our side, so we were thinking a city break somewhere?
Thanks for any advice!

Any of the bigger cities will be a good winter destination, and if for just a few days, most smaller cities too.
Just plan your activities on the weather you are likely to find.
Or maybe I should say clothing.
If you are going to the northern half of Europe, you might find temperatures below the freezing point, in that case, going from pub to club and on in short and open dresses is not a good idea. In such circumstances, opt for a city where you can wear warm outer clothes to a club and stay there for the whole night.

Sight seeing is easier in winter, as the crowds are smaller and waiting times much shorter.
Opening times are shorter too, so check the opening times of everything you want to see, before setting out for the day, that way you can plan on being in the last one before it closes.
Shopping will be as good as in summer, with the new collections in for the coming summer, if not cheap.

I think I would opt for one of the southern European cities for mild weather, like the southern half of Italy, and south Spain.
Or if you like big crowds and do not mind to pay more, hit on of the cities that celebrates Carnival if you on the right date.
That is Venice but also the cities in the south of the Netherlands, parts of Germany and maybe even more. Check the dates, as it is only one long weekend, till Shrove Tuesday, if my memory serves me right.

What’s the best way to obtain e-mail addresses from a local government?

Posted by admin on December 10th, 2009 and filed under city local government | 3 Comments »

Whenever you send an e-mail to a city offical there’s a disclaimer that says don’t send this email unless you’re ok with your email address being disclosed in a public records request. What’s the approriate way to request e-mail addresses from a government? Do I say "I’m requesting a list of all the e-mail addresses the government has gotten e-mails from in 2009?" Thoughts?

No, in fact completly wrong.
All you have to do is email them and say something like "I am requesting an answer under The Freedom of Information Act". Might take a while but you’ll get a reply eventually.
