I’am currently working as a lifeguard for the city of long beach, its a great jobs, but its time to do something more serious. I’am planning to apply for a local police department once I reach the age of 21. Until then I would like to work for the government so I gain experience. Are there any jobs within the government which only require a high school diploma, and if they do. Where do i go, where and how do I apply, and should I make a whole bunch of copies of my resume?
Most jobs with the Bureau of the Interior and Bureau of Indian Affairs accept a high school diploma. They just want hard workers..
What Federal Jobs can I get with just a highschool diploma?
If I moved to a different state and transfer to that police department do I keep my rank?
I plan on becoming a police officer in the state of Ohio and hope to become a police detective, but later on I want to move to New York City and join their police department, would I keep my rank?
No. You will start at the bottom of the rank structure, as a rookie noob probie.
You may be able to transfer your vacation time and earned sick time.
By the way, NYPD does NOT have a lateral transfer program. You would still have to take and pass the written Police Officer entrance exam and meet the education requirement (4 year degree).
How do you find out someone’s identity??
There is a man whom I have recieved threatening emails from. This man is a convicted sex offender. I mean, dirty, nasty emails… right here on yahoo answers. He has taken his first name and his avatar off of his profile, now. I am trying to work with the police department in his city because he has confided in me that he is planning on raping a woman and very young daughter.
This is really nasty stuff and there is no way I could get away with any of it on any public forum…. you can email me with your email address if you would like to view it. I started out trying to help him find low income mental health services in his area. I have contacted child welfare and police department in his area, however, they are not having much luck finding out who he is.
He said in his original question that he was a sex offender and someone was trying to convince him to commit a crime (the molestation of the woman’s daughter.)
As far as him being like a heavy breather, had he not threatened someone else, I would not even bother…
The PD should be able to get his IP address and track him that way. Keep copies of everything that he sends.
You may also want to contact the local media in the city he said he’s from. PD will not like it, but if it appears they will not do anything (or go too slow) it may be worth contacting the media. They often will have the resources and expertise to track people through the internet.
The good news maybe be that as disturbed as he is, he is likely to be all talk. People can take on whatever personna (including the very sick) under the amonity of the internet, and threaten things that they wouldn’t do in real life.
Good luck
Tips for job seeking/experience with no current experience?
I currently don’t have any professional or little to no working experience and I’m about to graduate from college (undergrad). I’ll be going into a masters program, though.
I’m currently volunteering for a city department doing various work that the stuff don’t have time to address, such as working on plans and reports. What else should I be looking to do if I can’t find work to get experience…which I need to get work?
You are doing a very smart thing by doing volunteer work. Hopefully you are volunteering to do work similar to your training. If not, look into volunteering in your area of expertise.
Start to network, if you haven’t already. Try and go to lunch with the people you work with. Join church groups, professional groups, college alumni organizations and hand out your business card….just your name and phone number.
Talk with your professors for leads on where you might go to look for a job, or network. They might know about internships in the area.
Good Luck! You are off to a good start!

getting a food vending cart licensed in Buffalo, NY?
I’m planning on opening a hotdog cart with one of my friends soon, we both have plenty of food service experience and enough cash to start a bare bones operation. Does anybody know what kind of licenses and fees we would have to take care of to make it legit? How would we register with the city and the health department? We know how to cook and provide service w/ a smile, but when it comes to paperwork, thats the one thing we have very limited experience in. thanks for your help!!
This is a link to the City of Buffalo website to search for licence requirements.

Which Companies arranging visas for independent American travelers visiting Russia?
Hello,
I am planning to visit a few Russian cities this summer. I am looking for a travel agent company who can arrange a visa for independent American travelers visiting Russia. I am not looking for a package tour but an easy way to obtain visa, so I could travel from city to city without visiting local police department every time I travel to another city.
Thank you,

How do you let a school district know you want to work there without being annoying?
I am planning on moving to another city. I really want to be at this district and I have already emailed the Human Resources Department.
Most districts are actively looking for teachers. A phone call to some decision maker in HR would be good, then a follow-up with a hand written thank you note. Course they all have the paperwork you’d need, thats a first. But dont underestimate a short sincere thank you note.
I am a civil engineer in the Philippines, what will be the most demand engineering works in the US w/o license.
I am currently working at the City Engineering Department as Head of the Materials Quality Control Section. My primary responsibility is to check and monitor whether the projects conform to the plans and specifications both contract and by administration.I also handle some special projects both vertical and horizontal construction. My wife is now in the first phase in applying abroad as a nurse.I know that my profession will not be honored in the states without stateboard. What field or what particular engineering works can I apply which fit my qualifications assuming I am not already an engineer? My expertise is more on roads construction and materials testing or geo technical investigation.I am responsible right now with our construction in landfill with consultant from German Development Services.
If you enjoy working outdoors I suggest you look for work as an entry-level inspector. It is very similar to approving plans and specifications–you are now enforcing those plans and specifications. Most municipal construction inspectors do not have a civil engineering degree. If you want to work for a private firm you can hire on as a drafter and you may be able to work up to design from that position. Either way, you will not become rich but you can certainly live comfortably with your wife working as a nurse.
I also recommend you look at what state your wife chooses to work in and google "State Name" and "Professional Engineer" to see what it would take to become licensed as a civil engineer. In Virginia, you would be given the chance to become a civil engineer but it would take awhile and you would have to pass the Fundamentals of Engineering exam and the Professional Engineering exam.
